PROJECT: Redevelopment of the Airco Parcel at St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport
LOCATION: Feather Sound Country Club, Sandpiper Room, 2201 Feather Sound Drive, Clearwater, FL 33762
SPONSOR: St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport (PIE)

Pursuant to Section 102(2c) of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) OF 1969, the St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport (PIE) is making available for public and agency review and comment, the Draft Environmental Assessment (EA) for the redevelopment of the 131-acre parcel known as the “Airco Parcel”. After comments from the public, federal, state, and local agencies are considered and responded to in the Final EA, the Final EA will be submitted to the Federal Aviation Administration for the agency’s environmental determination.

Proposed Airport Improvements: The proposed improvements, collectively referred to in the Draft EA as the Proposed Project, include the following development actions: 1) site preparation (including clearing and stormwater improvements) of the 131-acre parcel; 2) airfield access improvements including construction of partial parallel Taxiways J and K and associated pavement edge lighting and signage; 3) development of new aviation support facilities consistent with the Airport’s Master Plan which are conceptual but are anticipated to include: aircraft parking apron and associated taxiways, aviation maintenance and storage structures, general aviation terminal building, and exterior lighting for new access drives, vehicle parking lots, hangars, and portions of aircraft parking aprons.

The Proposed Project will affect floodplains as the entire site is located within the 100-year coastal floodplain. The Proposed Project includes measures to minimize and address unavoidable impacts to this resource.

Public Hearing: A Public Hearing will be held on Monday, June 17, 2019 beginning promptly at 6:00 p.m. at Feather Sound Country Club, Sandpiper Room, 2201 Feather Sound Drive, Clearwater, FL 33762.

The purpose of the Public Hearing is to receive and consider public comments on the social, economic, and environmental effects of the Proposed Project. A short formal presentation will be made followed by the opportunity for attendees to provide verbal comments or submit written comments.
